THIS IS NOT A MOOD BOARD

STYLE, CHARACTER,
& ADVENTURE

This is NOT a mood board.

This is to give you a sense of freedom and inspiration.

This is a reminder to everyone that there are far better ways to imagine yourself than just “showing up to a photoshoot with whatever is in the closet.”

Often people discuss shooting and tell me “I’m not sure what to wear. Can you give me ideas?” The reality is:
I do about 150 shoots per year. Each shoot has about 3 looks on average. With each shoot, I usually pull about 50 images with a range of scenes. This means I would need to invent roughly 450 looks. Obviously I throw in ideas all the time, but I can’t come up with 450 looks - I don’t know everyone’s closet, and I don’t know everyone’s secret inner worlds. This is a way to make it more fun for you and me.

I’m often asked “What do YOU want to shoot?” TBH, I want to shoot people being free and creative - I want to make scenes with people who are free and open and wild. I want to see people inspired and playful. I like it when someone says “OMG - I have this wig and these heels! I know the perfect fit for this! We should shoot it.”

The pictures above are just to jolt your mind a little. Here re some tips:
• Think about Halloween, festivals, alter egos, characters you want to play, people you find funny or interesting or weird, etc.
• Think of ways you want to show or hide your body and face.
• Think of props you want to play with - don’t be shy about asking people to borrow things!
• Think about making things yourself.
• Think about stunts you want to do (roll down a dirt hill? Climb a building? Play with venomous creatures?)
• Find pieces that feel like characters from a movie.
• Think about accessories (wigs, nails, grills, tights, shoes, fake contacts, lashes, whatever!)
• Think of characters (Mob bosses, fast food employees, a secret ninja disguised as a nun, angelic sea sirens, etc)
• Go thrifting and find odds and ends that inspire you.
• Find pieces you want to destroy
• Rediscover your inner child and let him/her play freely
• Color or monochromatic or shapes or patterns?!
• Imagine items not sold as clothes to cover the body (liquid latex, paint, simple fabrics, plastic, chains, candles, bands, etc…)
• Remember to laugh! You should be having fun with this!!!

Be creative. Be weird. Be hot. Be wholesome. Be gross. Be zen. Be whatever!

Once you have an idea, we can talk and play more. And if you are struggling with understanding this way of doing things - call me and we can figure it out! I promise, once you go down this road, regular shoots and “normal” people will be EXTREMELY boring after!

The world is our playground. Everyone is playing dress up one way or another. But 99.9999% of people are playing safe unless it is halloween - and these shoots are here for you to express yourself regardless of which day of the year it is!

Be forever young, forever wild, and forever free!
